What drug can replace Iodomarin

Iodomarin analogs have the same therapeutic properties as the original drug, but are much cheaper. The iodine in their composition is contained in hormones that are produced by the thyroid gland. When the deficiency of this element is replenished, the work of the endocrine system improves. Iodine-containing medicines are used to prevent thyroid pathologies in women during pregnancy, infants, preschool children, adolescents and adults.

What is included in Yodomarin

Iodomarin is a German-made drug with the active substance potassium iodide. It belongs to the category of thyroid drugs, which are designed to treat and prevent thyroid diseases. The tablets contain:

  • potassium iodide;
  • polysorb ;
  • magnesium stearic acid;
  • magnesium carbonate;
  • lactose;
  • sodium glycolate ;
  • gelatin.

Some analogs of Iodomarin contain other excipients, but this does not affect their therapeutic activity. The concentration of potassium iodide in some of them varies in the range of 131-262 μg. Thanks to this, the patient selects for himself an analogue with the optimal dose of the active substance. This makes the treatment targeted, suitable for patients with varying degrees of iodine deficiency .

Even minor changes in the dosage of Iodomarin or its analogs are fraught with hormonal imbalances. Therefore, questions of replacing drugs and increasing the daily dose should be discussed with a doctor.

Who are iodine preparations indicated for?

Iodomarin is prescribed for the treatment of iodine deficiency and endocrine diseases provoked by it. Analogs of the drug are also taken to prevent iodine deficiency . Indications for the use of Iodomarin and generics , that is, copies of drugs, are:

  • non-toxic diffuse goiter;
  • iodine deficiency hypothyroidism;
  • euthyroid goiter;
  • prevention of iodine deficiency during pregnancy;
  • prevention of exacerbations of goiter after thyroid surgery.

Most often, Iodomarin is taken to prevent thyroid diseases. Potassium iodide contained in medicines and analogues is an essential trace element. It affects the biosynthesis of thyroid hormones.

It is undesirable to take analogues of Yodomarin without the recommendation of a specialist. Treatment with iodine-containing agents is contraindicated in:

  • diffuse foci on the thyroid gland;
  • iodine intolerance;
  • severe hyperthyroidism;
  • adenoma on the lobes of the thyroid gland;
  • dermatitis herpetiformis.

With caution, Iodomarin analogs are taken with lactose intolerance and other auxiliary components that are present in the drug.

What can replace Yodomarin

The high cost of Iodomarin pushes many patients to search for cheaper analogues and substitutes for the drug. The pharmaceutical market offers hundreds of generics suitable for the prevention and treatment of thyroid disorders. But many substitutes for Iodomarin contain a different amount of active ingredients. Therefore, before taking analogues, you need to carefully read the rules for taking the medicine, which are prescribed in the instructions.

Many iodine-containing preparations are dispensed in a pharmacy without a prescription from an endocrinologist, but they cannot be taken without a doctor’s prescription. An overdose of Iodomarin and generics leads to Quincke’s edema , pain in the epigastric zone.

Potassium iodide

Iodomarin substitute is produced in tablets, eye drops, mixture and solution. For the prevention and treatment of iodine deficiency conditions, tablets with 0.1-0.2 mg of iodine are used. To prevent irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, analogs of Iodomarin are washed down with sweet tea or low-fat milk.

The dosage depends on the type of thyroid disease:

  • endemic goiter – 0.04 g no more than 1 time per week;
  • diffuse goiter – 0.04 g three times a day, then 0.125 g twice a day for 20 days.

To protect the thyroid gland from radiation exposure during radiation therapy, you need to take 1 tablet with 0.125 g of iodine per day. The medicine is not prescribed for kidney disease, hemorrhagic diathesis.

Potassium iodide Reneval

Before replacing Yodomarin with generics , you should consult your doctor. To avoid iodine deficiency during pregnancy and lactation, take Reneval potassium iodide . An affordable analogue of more expensive drugs is available in tablets. They contain 0.1 mg μg or 0.2 mg of iodine.

Substitute Yodomarin has the same medicinal properties. It regulates thyroxine synthesis by the thyroid gland and restores hormonal balance in endocrine diseases. Systematic pill intake provides:

  • acceleration of metabolism;
  • improved blood circulation in the brain;
  • restoration of the functions of the nervous system;
  • secretory activity of the ovaries.

To prevent irritation of the gastric mucosa, tablets are taken strictly after meals. Children under 3 years old are dissolved in 1 tbsp. l. mineral water without gas.

Potassium iodide Reneval is almost 3 times cheaper than Iodomarin , but is not inferior to it in terms of effectiveness. To prevent iodine deficiency, it is prescribed in the following doses (per day):

  • infants – ½ tablet;
  • children under 12 years old – 1 tablet;
  • adolescents and adults – 2 tablets.

When carrying a fetus, an analogue of Iodomarin tablets should be taken at 0.1 or 0.2 mg per day. The dosage is also relevant for patients who have undergone surgery for goiter.

Microiodide

The analogue of Iodomarin 200 is produced in tablets with packaging of 25-100 pieces. It is prescribed to prevent iodine deficiency in people with euthyroid and endemic goiter. Microiodide is recommended when carrying a fetus, after removing the goiter. The daily dose is determined by the purpose of the drug intake.

Daily dose for patients over 12 years old:

  • treatment of iodine deficiency – 0.3-0.5 mg;
  • prevention of iodine deficiency – 0.1-0.2 mg.

The duration of therapy is determined by the endocrinologist. Usually, analogs of Iodomarin tablets are taken for 1 month to several years. The course of therapy in adolescents varies from 6 months to 1 year.

Polyoxidine

The drug cannot be called an analogue of iodine-containing agents that are used to treat thyroid diseases. He contains:

  • macrogol ;
  • sodium chloride;
  • potassium iodide.

Polioksidin worth less Jodomarin , but it is used as a plasma-funds. The solution improves the rheological properties of blood when:

  • violation of peripheral circulation;
  • severe blood loss;
  • hypovolemic conditions;
  • postoperative shock, etc.

Polyoxidine solution is used as part of anti-shock therapy and is not intended to prevent iodine deficiency.

The drug is administered intravenously bolus of 100-1200 ml. The rate of administration of Polyoxidine depends on blood pressure and pulse rate.

Yodovital

The tablets contain 0.1-0.2 mg of iodine. Iodovital refers to non-structural analogs of Iodomarin , since it contains other additional substances – stearic acid, glucose, cellulose, etc. It is undesirable to use it in parallel treatment with radioactive iodine, thyroid cancer .

Daily dosage to prevent goiter:

  • newborns – up to 50 mcg;
  • children under 12 years old – 100 mcg;
  • adults – up to 200 mcg;
  • pregnant women – 200 mcg.

To prevent exacerbations of goiter in patients after surgery, the following are prescribed:

  • children – 0.1 mg per day;
  • adults – 0.2 mg per day.

In the treatment of euthyroid goiter, up to 0.5 mg of Iodovital is taken . The daily dose must be taken once. To avoid irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, the tablets are washed down with 250 ml of water.

Iodine balance

Like many other analogues of the drug Iodomarin , these tablets contain 0.1 mg or 0.2 mg of iodine. Unlike the original, Yodbalanse there are other optional components – dikrahmaladipat acetylated , powdered cellulose. With hypersensitivity to substances, allergic reactions occur, therefore, before taking the pills, consult a doctor.

The medicine restores the synthesis of iodine-containing thyroid hormones, normalizes memory and thinking. The optimal dose of iodine balance is determined by the amount of iodine consumed daily with food.

Exceeding the recommended dose by 0.1-0.2 mg leads to iodine-associated rhinitis , angioedema.

Features of taking the drug and dosage:

  • the daily dose must be taken at a time;
  • for preschool children, tablets are dissolved in 10 ml of water;
  • to prevent deficiency conditions in children, take 100 mcg, and in adults – 200 mcg of the drug per day.

The duration of the course is determined by the rate of restoration of hormonal levels.

List of other medicines

Analogs of Iodomarin tablets should contain the required amount of potassium iodide . The following are used as its substitutes:

  • Yodex ;
  • Iodothirine ;
  • Antistramine ;
  • Iodine Vitrum ;
  • Iodostatin ;
  • Yodilife ;
  • Iodine- Normal ;
  • Iodide- Farmak ;
  • Mamoclum .

Unlike Iodormarin , many cheap analogues include lactose monohydrate. Such tablets are not prescribed for patients with lactose deficiency.

How much iodine preparations to take

Violation of the hormonal background and functions of the thyroid gland provoke both an excess and a deficiency of iodine. Therefore, the duration of the course of taking Yodomarin , Yodovital and their analogues must be strictly controlled. The duration of the therapeutic course depends on:

  • the degree of iodine deficiency ;
  • the patient’s age;
  • causes of thyroid dysfunction;
  • the purpose of taking iodine-containing drugs.

To prevent deficiency conditions, Iodomarin should be taken for 1 month to 10 years or more. When treating goiter in newborns, the course of therapy should not exceed 1 month. Adolescents take iodine-containing tablets for no more than 1 year, and pregnant women – during the entire gestational and lactation period.

Before taking Iodomarin substitutes , you need to consult with an endocrinologist. Non-structural analogs contain other additional components, some of which are highly allergenic .
